Winter Pavilion Competition.

Myself and two friends, Madeleine Rutherford-Browne (RIBA pt 1), and Daniel Springall (Architectural Technologist), have entered Switch Competitions Hyde Park Winter Pavillion Competition 2020. This will be our first competition for all of us, as individuals or as a team, international or national. We hope to develop our skills and collaboration skills on a live project. We hope to engage and heighten the senses and amplify the atmosphere of Christmas. Our Pavillion will aim to ‘REKINDLE’ the connection between our senses, body, family and memories during the holidays.

All work on this page is work completed as part of a team.

Re-Kindle

The Christmas tree is the heart of any festive family home. Abstracting and expanding on the joy and anticipation of what lies beneath the tree on Christmas morning. Growing older, and throughout the pandemic, many of us have realised the thing we really treasure is the connection to those who are dear to us, or who we should spend more time with. The Re-Kindle pavilion is a space for families to gather, friends to meet and connection within the community to be made. Nestled between the woods, and The Serpentine the space allows expansive views of the annual ‘Winter Wonderland’ activities and landscape whilst remaining sheltered and connected to nature.

Software Usage

I used this opportunity to experiment with Rhino7. Although not all seen in these images I have learnt to, create and manipulate forms and masses, to create a dimensionally correct design which we used to give a form to our rough sketches. After this I was able to experiment with the built in rendering functions. I hope to elaborate on my knowledge of this software to become more profficient and create a more detailed model. Although my Team mate Dan took the lead on the final Revit Model, I learned a lot in terms of skills and shortcuts in the software.
